The Catching Academy is very pleased to announce that two more graduates, Connor Bruce and Jack Downing, have committed to continue their careers at the collegiate level.
Connor Bruce has recently completed his senior year at Monte Vista High School in Danville, CA where he was a standout as a catcher for the Mustangs. Bruce hit .373 with eight doubles, two triples and nine RBIs and was in his senior season, being named EBAL First-Team. He will walk on this fall at North Carolina State, a top NCAA Division 1 program.
NC State competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and won three games at the Raleigh regional in June, ultimately falling to the eventual College World Series Champions, Coastal Carolina.
Jack Downing completed his senior year at College Park High School this spring. A leader behind the plate for the Falcons, Downing drove in 21 runs and hit .326 while throwing out 43 percent of base stealers in his senior season. He was named All-DFAL First-Team.
Jack will attend Los Medanos College (CCCAA; Bay Valley) in Pittsburg, CA in the fall of 2016.
The Catching Academy is proud of each of these athletes and wish them continued success as they begin their collegiate careers.
Bruce and Downing are the last of this years senior class to commit following Casey Schwitters (St. Marys), Mitchell Briggs (Chapman), and Jaxson Shull (Ohlone College).
